Car died after driving in the rain and would not start, It was turning over
I have the 1998 model Marquis. /Crown Vic(Same car) I seem to have an
issue when it rains. Sometimes the Temperature gauge will spike and then
go back to normal while I am driving in the rain. The Bigger recent issue
left me stranded 50 miles from home. I drove the car 50 miles in the rain.
Then about 1/2 mile down a slight bumpy driveway very slowly.
It cut off on me once but started back up.
The car sat for about an hour and then would not start. It would turn over.
But not fire. IT was towed, and after it dried out for a day. It runs great
again. There were no error codes or check engine lights.
Same as the Lincoln Town car too..Change the CKP sensor.
Is it maybe because water is getting into the sensor? I have not had any problem with the car in good weather. It has been sunny here the last 2 days, and the car is running fine. No, I cannot drive it only when its a sunny day. lol How would that cause the temp gauge to spike? Or is that an unrelated issue as well? I appreciate the responses. Thanks
