sounds like a proportioning valve issue. If not a separate component it will be part of the master cylinder.

Ok, I was also thinking power boost. Should I replace both or how, would I determine which is the problem

mabey the vacuum hose to the brake boostef is leaking

Well, replacing a rubber vacuum hose would be faster and a lot cheaper then a master for testing.

Checked the hoses, it is not leaking as far as I can tell. I am not very car savvy but don’t want to pay a mechanic to diagnose.

If your not sure just replace the hose, lot cheaper to try than a master, which could still be the issue.
