On my 2000 GMC Sierra, the radio has no power at all

Asked by TDUBBZ55 Aug 01, 2013 at 01:07 PM about the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when I used my blinker it would shut completely off, only after I messed with the lock
switches it would turn back on, after replacing the insturment cluster and the stock
radio with another one, now there is no power at all unless I hit the recall button, only
the clock comes on, the fuse under the hood hasn't been blown, I need info asap
please, it is a truck I do deliveries in and driving up to 80 miles a day with no tunes is
killing me. Thanks, Tom

...fishin' out the ole portable D-cell 8-track unit with recordings of the beatles and uriah heep---what you must do is connect to SOLID ground...feels kinda floaty and disconnected...first be sure the 1/0 connection to the frame is solid...wirebrush it is necessary as it Will WELD itself with every use of the startermotor...point of contention for your ECU and now to the dashboard and who knows what else ? the ignition system? get a CEL (check engine light) at all, probably is not ready yet~ yes, if you installed a brand new one this would happen as well....need dependable ground, my friend~
