2002 gmc Sierra won't start

Asked by Truckgirl24 Jun 28, 2018 at 04:21 PM about the 2002 GMC Sierra 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced my rear main seal on my truck
(which was running just fine before the
replacement), and now my 2002 gmc Sierra 1500
won't start. I've replaced the battery, tested the
alternator, and the starter is get power.
I'm not sure what the problem is when I attempt to
start the truck I get one click and that's all. Any
ideas??

Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good? Note the diagram for your starter motor. You can see the fuses involved--starter relay-- ignition switch--neutral or clutch switch depending on the tranny. Two voltage circuits at starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit, starter S terminal, goes hot with starter relay energized. The starter motor grounds through the engine block. To check for voltage, you can use a test light. That may not be conclusive, but, it's something. When testing at starter motor make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. If you have any questions holler.

Sounds like a starter issue. You had to pull the starter to do the rear main,So check your wiring hook up.

My gmc 2002 truck have been giving me problems. Had the starter replace, the fuel pump replaced. Each time I would go in and try to star my truck and it would not. I one thing fix and it would work for a couple of weeks and then it happen all over again with my truck not starting. Each time after replacing something it would work fine and now it is not
