'99 Taurus, 93,000 miles. Good buy?

Asked by Michael Oct 26, 2016 at 12:38 PM about the 1999 Ford Taurus

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm thinking of buying one of these. Price is $4,300 OTD. Will it be reliable? I
do plan on having it inspected by a mechanic before purchase. Despite its
relatively low miles, I'm somewhat put off by its age. Comments?

Not worth it. Those cars don't have a good reputation, they're known for transmission issues and head problems. You can find a newer and low mileage for that amount. I bought a 2006 Taurus with 110k miles and after about 120k transmission started to slip and catalytic converters had to be replaced

That's way too much for that car. I bought an 07 for $3,000 just a few weeks ago. It had just over 100,000 miles on it.
