1999 ford explorer wont start back up

My sister has a 1999 ford exolorer and she says it will start with a jump and stay running and driving, but will not start back up after being shut off, wich leads me to believe that it is not the altenator.I am thinking it is a bad connection somewhere. I live a long way away and am trying to figure it out before i go and attempt to fix it. Any help would be greatfull. thank you

bad alt,right now it is running off battery,is charging just enough to keep from killing the battery,which will eventialy happen leaving her stranded.
replaced the altenator and it did the same after a week or so. a week after that it quit and and wont start.
Bad battery; once it starts its running on the altenator. The battery isnt taking a charge so canot re-start. If it were the alt you would have a warning light, also the car would die after perhaps a half hour of driving, once the battery was depleted.
I think the Battery's life is over u need to change the battery
If the Alternator was bad then most likely killed the battery as well as the starter.
