Red theft light blinks when turned off, didnt used to?

Asked by SaraFreestyle777 Apr 16, 2020 at 12:32 AM about the 1999 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The flashing red theft light used to go off when I
turned off engine and locked the doors. Now, it
doesnt.  I've gone thru 2 alternators and 1 battery
in 2020! I've had my interlock unit since Aug 2019.
So, I'd say, that's probably not the cause. I have 1
key, and no fob. Lowes' wanted $150. A KEY!  Is
there a fuse I can change? Or something less
costly than, replacing all the anti-theft equipment?
I dont have a fob n e way, to set an alarm. Pls,
smart car ppl, please help me figure out a cheap
way to turn off that damn red theft light from
flashing? I cant afford much to fix this. I'm ready 2
simply disconnect my battery when I'm not using
it. Cheapest solution I can think of.
4x4 ,V6, 4 door, 4.0L

You'll have to take it to a Ford dealer to get new fobs and to get out of the security issue.
