2005 gmc Yukon denali

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car will no longer go in park or reverse anymore
but still drives I'm just using the emergency brake
and keeping it in neutral when parking it what
could be the problem ???

Gear switch is a known problem on this setup, but don't rule out linkage problems in the column, if you don't know what your doing on this setup best refer it to your mechanic, he can make sure that when you put it in park that the signal is getting too the TCM and from there too the tranny. It's rare but I have seen automatics burn up due to a defective switch,
