where is the drain plug for the heating system

no drain for heating one for raidor,i suggest a new thermostat and temputure control sensor

You may want to flush the radiator anyway, and make sure you put in the proper 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water. Radiator drain plug is on passenger side rear of radiator down at the bottom in most cases.

Which way does the themostat go in? Spring side out, right? Gasket to the block, right?
