2005 GMC Canyon w/ new aftermarket radio dash problems

Asked by Samuel Jan 04, 2020 at 08:34 PM about the 2005 GMC Canyon

Question type: Car Customization

I have just installed a new aftermarket radio in my
2005 Canyon. At first when I tested it everything
booted up fine in ACC mode. went to start it and
noticed the passlock light on and the truck didn't
start. Unplugged the radio and started the truck
with no issues. Then I plugged the radio back in
and able to start the truck. This is when it gets
wonky. The dash display does it's normal boot. the
radio begins it's normal boot, however the radio
does not boot completely and shutoff and then the
dash display in the truck reboots again while
running. the radio and truck display will cycle on
and off. It seems as if the truck is not allowing the
radio to boot up. The only thing I notice different is
the passlock (car w/ lock symbol) comes on. Any
thoughts or experience with this problem?

You need an OEM stereo wiring interface adapter so vehicle will think stock stereo still installed. They did this so if stereo gets stolen will be useless to thief
