1962 pontiac tempest

is it possible for my 62 tempest lemans to have come with 63 black plates?
i bought the car recently and it was never taken apart at all and was parked since the 79s.
the calif dmv is trying to tell me they wont reassign the suppossedly 63 black plates to a 62 car!   i know these plates are original , they even had nelson pontiac frames on them.

That's a hard one but not likely. Did you look into the Vin? Did you get anything in writing from the DMV? In most cases all the paperwork has to match to get anything transferred or they'll reject it.

Good luck taking on the Kalifornia DMV. You could try to appeal it but I doubt you will get any where. Ask them if the car was first sold in 1963 as a 1962 model if it would have come with 63 plates.
