Anyone have experience with a Geo overheating?
My car has been overheating, I replaced the
thermostat. I also took it to a shop and they
did a pressure test and said I needed a new
radiator cap. They replaced that and it
worked for two days before it started
overheating again. While adding coolant I
noticed it leaking in the waterpump area.
I'm not sure if it's the pump itself or the
hose to it. When I had the pressure test
done they didn't notice the leak. Does
anybody know how to fix this or no if it is to
hard to do myself or have any
recommendations?
The only thing that is tuff on this,is you have to remove timing belt to do it,There is and idler on the end of it which run,s the timing belt,and if it is leaking around there,it want be a hose,it will be the pump.
The red circle marks the weep hole where coolant leaks out when the pump starts dying. Another option for overheating would be the fan clutch. If it doesn't work properly when the engine gets warm the fan just freewheels and doesn't cool the radiator.
