Help!!!

I need help, So i have a 1999 Mercury
Cougar V6 Manual 5 speed. So i was driving
down the road and i went 1st, 2nd and i was
going to switch to 3rd but the shifter only
goes up and down. It kinda feels like there is
a gate blocking the rest of the gears( the
shifter only goes up and down now and its all
loose) it wont go to 3rd, 4th, 5th or
Reverse. It doesnt feel like it goes into 1st
or 2nd either.

It could be a number of issues, something that needs to be seen by a transmission specialist....

Glad you were able to get home, you should bring it to a tranny shop if you are still having issues.
