Ford Bantam does not start.
I have a 2004 ford bantam, with about 108 000 Km on the
Ocassionally, especially when it is raining or misty, the car
does not start. There is no ignition at all. The motor does
not run, the car does not idle, and the rpm remains zero.
The battery is fine and has been checked multiple times.
The engine is in working order. Pushing the car or trying to
jumpstart it doesn't help, because there is no ignition.
The ignition system seems to be the only thing that could
be causing the issue. The car behaves as if the key (which
usually works every other time) is the wrong key . The
ignition computer was checked and is fully functional.
Is there something else which is somehow affected by
water, rain, mist, or moisture which can cause the car not
start, or not to recognize the key?
The problem usually persists until the weather clears, or for
a few hours.
Use a hear dryer on hot on the key reader for a while. It sounds like the key reader , reader coil.
I have the same problem with my 2003 Ford Bantam. The Hear Dryer is not a permanent solution. What is the permanent solution?
Did you use the hair dryer just where you usually insert the key?
Round the edge where the Key reader is located. It fits arround the ignition lock under the covers. Blow arround the outside edge of the ignition lock
The perminant solution is to remove the Computer Box, The key reader and send us these two items and the keys and we can sort the problem out. phone 0820606425. We are in the Pretoria area.
This hair dryer use seems to have worked. Where are you in PTA?
Pretoria East. If you can send me a Whatsapp on : 0820606425 I will sent you directions.
