fitted 1997 Fiesta 1400i engine with loom into 1994 bantam bakkie.

Bakkie has more power now but as soon as engine reach normal temp, it misses and
backfires. I then have to turn engine off for around 10 sec and it's ok again when i restart.
while it misses i remove plug on water temp switch under intake manifold and it tends to
idle higher, temp switch has been replaced but no change. can anybody please help?

...okay there are a lot of variables here but for an instant diagnosis am going to suggest the fuel pressure regulator has a vacuum source that is leaking and/or a defective fuel pressure regulator...first the vacuum leak would cause high idle with no power, next the failure to regulate the gasoline would have it running with minimal pressure~....only don't know of a bantam bakkie or where I could shop for a fuel pressure regulator for you~

to try to "trick" the ECU by monkeyin' with the temp sensor is not gonna be the way to go...that thing will be makin' good decisions for you if you let it...probably there are other factors that the ECU needs to see the "ambient air or intake air temperature" is an important one because this will let the computer how much to enrichen the mix when cold...but if your vacuum is leaking will be not able to get it right...a maf sensor (if equipped) will be the verification that is running correctly and no adjustments to the air/fuel mix is needed...the 02 sensor also weighs in too...Block sensor and perhaps a radiator fan t-stat will play a role of bringing this to the operating temperature...and if running too hot the EGR should kick in to reduce the combustion temperature~
The items that need to go into this vehicle are not only the engine and loom , but the PCM and cluster . There is a difference between the 1998 and '99 models. The PCMs and clusters are different. The 98 has a group injection and no CMP sensor. Check that your PCM and Cluster come out of the same Model Year vehicle
