Engine Light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My battery went flat in the cold weather recently, and would not take a charge afterwards. The orange engine light had been on for a couple of weeks before hand. After putting a new battery in the light went out for a few days, but now it is back on again. What does this mean? Alternator? Belts?

well the light is a waring for a problem of course, to eliminate the alt, jump the car and dissconnect the positive lead from the battery, the red cable if the car dies the the alt is shot. im sure that is your prob, also check you alt fuse.
