2000 Ford Ranger fire

Asked by Dec 10, 2016 at 03:06 PM about the 2000 Ford Ranger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 Ford Ranger was making a noise
with the heater on. Drove it 5 miles and it
caught fire between the cab and bed.
Heater, fuel line repair or total loss?
Thanks.

That would probably be a fuel leak or maybe oil that got on the muffler and caught on fire. You will have to judge the damage to determine if it is a write off or not. Do you have insurance? How about a photo?

Its a 16 year old car for what the car is worth, its not fixing...

I don't know joe. Rangers are popular trucks and if it only has minor damage it could be fixed and used as a work truck.

Not an answer but wondering if you repaired truck? I would be interested in a parts truck. I own a 2000 ranger and some parts are not interchangeable with any other year. What a pain but I really like truck. I have over 161,000 on mine and going strong.

Actually it is 361,000 on my truck.
