on a 1995 dodge neon battery light is on battery and charging system checks out good when starting car battery light come on.turn off engine and restart takes a couple blocks for battery light to come on.if i turn on headlights battery light stays on but if u turn off engine restart immediatly turn on headlights before battery light comes on battery light stays off.

If it's charging the battery, forget about the light. Put some tape over it. It's eighteen years old and some stuff is not worth fixing.

i have to somewhat agree with tenspeed, most likely its a short, might even be the cluster, they have issues sometimes with the solder connections on the board. if it bothers you enough just pull the bulb
