Asked by Feb 13, 2016 at 03:20 PM about the 1999 Dodge Intrepid

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the coolant sensor was replaced . ... and now after driving no more than thirty
miles and got home.. under the hood was smoking,, when opened the hood
the antifreeze was spitting out all over the engine and leaking ...( lost about
1/2 gallon) from the top off the housing between the two hoses!!!

1 Answer

Yes. I would take off the old housing and replace it. The coolant temperature sensor would need some Teflon Tape to seal the threads when reinstalling.
