my 2000 dodge stratus died and will not start ,there is no check engine light on, it backfired thrugh the muffler,,,what is wrong with it

Just have to determine why. First try giving it a jump, may have corroded battery cables, a low battery, a bad alternator, Or the engine lost spark, or fuel pressure. First need to figure out which one of these are the problem.
