Alarm overide

Asked by GuruC7X22 Mar 11, 2019 at 02:08 PM about the 2001 Dodge Dakota

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When you shut the key off the security system
stars going off and on until you turn the key to the
on position for an 01 dodge dakota. Is it n the
steering column or as a result of the aftermarket
radio? If its n the steering column then are they
expensive to replace?

Aftermarket radios usually come with some sort of theft deterrent compatible with your vehicle, if your new radio doesn't have it, locate the theft wire in the old radio harness I think it's a Lt grn/org wire. first try to ground it if the alarm doesn't stop apply voltage to it. I hope this helps. Take care.
