You say you had battery out then put it back in? I know this sounds dumb but it is real easy to have flipped the battery in wrong, positive post on wrong end. I have done it myself and caught it. Positive is on the right as you face it. If you did this you probably fried a fusible link hopefully or master fuse.

Friends 2002 G/C : Eng cranks, Gauges act "wacky" Interior light not work. Ran a ground wire from Batt Neg to frame (any where except to the engine block) >First crank & it started right up, there is a ground 'strap' someplace under the battery compartment that is the real problem.
