My 82 chevy truck dies on take off and does seem to have the power it should

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1982 chevy truck 350 small block with an edelbrock 1406 carb has been giving me
some issues lately, sometimes on take off it spits and sputters and shuts off. It will start
right back up though. It used to back fire up thru the carb too but we fixed that with a
new vacuum advance but that didn't fix the spit and sputtering issue. The timing is right
wear it needs to be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the distributor shaft for a hairline crack and alson the rotor button and distributor cap for cracks and moisture under the cap.....could also be a worn camshaft
