Horn/Steering wheel

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 78 chevy k10 and my main
question is how do I get my horn to stop
honking and fix the problem. It all started
when my turn signal switch broke, I fixed
the switch and when I went to put my new
steering wheel on I connected the horn
wire and it just bellowed to the heavens
until I disconnected the positive battery
cable. Then I decided to put the steering
wheel on without the horn wire. So I mean
my steering wheel and turn signal switch
work better than ever but how do I fix my
horn?

When you press the horn button on the steering wheel it completes the circuit to ground and sounds the horn. Something is touching the metal inside of the steering column or the back side of the steering wheel. Make sure the underside of the horn button isn't damaged or distorted. Check the horn wire for bare spots as well. Something is touching metal that's not supposed to. HTH. -Jim

You put it back together wrong, the horn contacts must be touching.
