Transmission problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an automatic  89 Chevy ck1500 4x4
truck. It has a 350 turbo tranny in it. But the
other day my reverse stoped working
completely. I still have 1,2 and drive but no
reverse. I can even put it in neutral and it will
drive forward like it's in gear. Any body got
any ideas?

Okay, this can be caused by a few items...take a look at the transmission mounts...perhaps they can be simply split with a screwdriver...anyways they are inexpensive and the shifter will track right again~ the other thing is low-lack of transmission fluid...examine with a tissue if a leak is noted...also color should be cherry red...not black...so transmission mount or two is my diagnosis~ have a spendid day~

I just changed my tranny pan gasket and filter and drained and refilled the tranny fluid completely. But I haven't checked the mounts

easy cheezy...put your floorjack under the drive output, where the driveshaft comes out of and jack it up...note the separation...replace those rubber parts!~
