Asked by Renee2020 Oct 27, 2018 at 02:11 PM about the 2005 Dodge Neon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 dodge neon won't start. It keeps acting
like it is going to but it just won't. My oil smells like
gas. What could be the problem.

You might have a bad fuel pressure regulator, find the fuel pressure test port unscrew the plastic cap then push the schraeder valve a small amount of fuel will spray out start the engine let it run for a minute or two then shut it off, wait for an hour then press the valve again if it sprayed the regulator is OK if not it's leaking into the intake and needs to be replaced. Has the mileage gone down a lot recently?
