DiAGNOSTIC TEST ability to see failure in transfer case module and circuit control module?

why didn't the diagnostic test results show the failure in the transfer case motor and the circuit control module on my 2005 4x4 dodge Durango?  Had I known of additional expense and extra delay, 8 days and car rental I might have decided to buy another car.
