Drained battery

Asked by May 22, 2019 at 04:53 AM about the 2005 Dodge Durango

Question type: General

What can be causing the dead battery if its not the
alternator?

A bad alternator is frequently the cause of a drained battery, but another common problem is a parasitic draw. It's like leaving a light on , but it's in the circuitry and might be a defective switch that's closed or a power short that causes a continuous drain. You can investigate yourself with a multi-meter, going from one fuse to another.
