2005 dodge dakota took battery out to change left turn signal put all back together won't turn over

can move shifter with out pushing brake also this truck is grandson's trying to get running

try checking both ends of the ground strap. the one to the battery post and the one to the block or chassis. Also can you hear any clicking or do anylights even come on when you turn the key on?
