Question type: General

Had several different answers come up for this. With towing upgrade, how do you tell if it has the upgrade? 3600lbs. Without, 1800lbs. and even a 'Do not recommend towing with this vehicle. Anyone?

Factory tow option will show in the VIN as such. You will have larger/harder suspension, bigger brakes, Trans will be upgraded for towing. It will have the factory tow hitch, not just a place you could put one if desired to. I have factory towing, Mine (GM) has the above and it says so on my glove box and my Title and has factory 3inch lift, and larger sway bars. Otherwise its not and should not be pulling more than 1500 pounds. A motorbike, ATV, lawnmower, Small boat, Pop up camper, Ect. I think 3600 pounds is too much even it has tow package. Look at it like this Do you have electric brakes if not why would you want to pull up to the total weight of the van? It weighs 4000 pounds. 3600lbs is 400lbs shy its own weight.

But I interject myself as http://www.carsdirect.com/2005/dodge/grand-caravan/specs says 3700 pound trailer weight. Copy & paste URL to go to page.

But also same site above shows my F150 trailer weight at 2300lbs for all models and I know that is not correct. It also has towing and it lived the first 3 years of its life with a trailer connected to it that was 2000lbs double axle and daily pulled 3500lbs or more. Never had a issue. So I do not believe the Dodge with a smaller engine by over a litter is rated to pull 1400lbs more than my truck.
