It is not good to run a fuel injected vehicle out of fuel. In some vehicles doing so can ruin the fuel pump. Put 2 more gallons of gas in it and cycle the ignition switch from off to run for 10 seconds then off to run for 10 seconds and repeat this several times. Do this not cranking the engine, just moving the ignition switch to run for 10 seconds and back to off. This will turn the fuel pump off and on and maybe it will pick up some fuel. When cycling the ignition switch see if you can hear the fuel pump turn on and off. Sometimes you can hit the fuel tank with a rubber mallet to jar loose a stuck fuel pump. If it doesn't work you may need a new fuel pump.

Bob, I did all of the above but I still dont hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. Is there anything else I should check before I drop the tank and replace fuel pump ?

Check the fuel pump relay and make sure power is going to the fuel pump at ignition switch on. You have to determine why the fuel pump is not running. Could be the pump or electrical.
