why on a 2006 dodge durango when turning the brights on the dash lights go off

I would first clean the ground wires for the headlights that attach to the radiator support. This is a cheap easy fix if it works. If that does not work check for a ground on the dimmer switch and clean. Harder to do but still a cheap fix if it works. If this does not fix the problem test the dimmer switch for continuity through the switch and all of the connectors.
