Do you have issues putting it into gear when it is in park.

If it is column shift the bolts on top of the column may be loose to the shifter. There is a small white or black wheel with a string/wire connected to it that you can roll that will adjust the shifter pointer. You will have to take the covers off right behind the steering wheel to access them.

it is a column shifter, it started just where it was all shifted over to the next letter, then it didn't let me put it all the way on the P sometimes, sometimes it looks like its on P, but when I turn off the car n get out it rolls back about a foot. and when I turn it back on I have to put it in neutral to turn on.

Like I stated pull the covers off and see if the bolts are loose that hold the shifter. You may not have to adjust the wheel after you tighten them.

It’s as if it isn’t in Park and I intermittently can’t start it. It’s slowly been moving towards the right over some time but now I can’t depend on it starting.
