My car stalls after driving short periods ? wont start until I sit 15 minutes

I have a 2004 Mercury Monterey Minivan, my question is I change the alternator because my voltage light came on then I took a negative post off and install so I went to the junkyard pick myself up off a re-manufactured one end it was holding a charge then this morning I went to double check it good battery light indicator came back on telling me it’s losing or not charging correctly , So I took off the negative post it stayed running it was ready to die I gave it a little bit of the bottle it died now because I won’t even turn over please help

2004 Mercury Monterey, I change the alternator but I’m still having a voltage issue but when I disconnected the negative post or a deposit on the car stays running so something it’s not raining my battery but it’s not stalling but my problem is this morning is when I took off the negative post my car is not running out at all it won’t turn over please help
