Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine backfires on the right side only.
It has a new carb and intake manifold (old system had same problems)Engine burns some oil on acceleration and startup
The problem developed after a 60 mile drive
Plugs not fouled.
Could this be mechanical (burned valves), Fuel or electrical? Timing is correct.
Any assistance would help
