wiring issue!?!

Asked by bluenewtoy Dec 29, 2010 at 01:05 AM about the 1977 Jeep CJ-5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 77 cj5. The tail lights need some work. The previous owner installed two
new light assemblies. Well needless to say it wasn't done right. I spent 2 hours trying to fix
the mess. But how do you connect a 3 wire assembly to 4 wires???? Every way I tried didn't
work. Can any one help me with this??

What does the 4th wire run? There should be running lights brake lights and backup lights. Why not replace with original equipment?
