Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today the Automatic door locks just when completely nuts. After getting on the road I had got probable a 1/2 block from my house the Door Locks just started locking, and unlocking constantly until I had stopped the car, and turned the ignition off. It repeated this every time I started the car, the minute I was moving above 10-20 MPH the doors started unlocking, and locking repeatedly. I have check with the Dealer they said that it was probably the door activators, and the only way to fix it is to replace the bad ones. At 220 dollars a each door. It may be close to 1,000 bucks to fix the problem. How do I deactivate the Auto Door Locks so I can at least drive it until I can figure out how to get by without the 2 weeks pay that is being extorted by my Ford dealer. Please let me know. That would really drive me nuts to have to drive around with locks engaging constantly. Thanks Jeldersnet

that is what i was going to tell you ,simpley disconect power to locks should be a fuse or relay under hood,is another fuse box under hood besides the one inside.

Yes, just pull the fuse. Sounds like a possible BCM (body control module) problem with the auto locking feature, this doesn't sounds like activators, since obviously if they're locking and unlocking, the actuators are working just fine.

The body control module is most likely your issue. the likelihood that it's the actuators that are clearly working simply isn't true. Disconnect your fuse as they said above. Then disconnect your battery for a half hour or so. This will re-boot your computer so to speak and might just clear up the issue. Otherwise a BCM replacement might be in order.

It's more than likely the GEM module I have owned several different Expeditions and have had a common problems it's located behind your fuse box

It is likely your GEM module. The problem actually does not originate with the GEM module. This era expedition and F-150's are prone to windshield leaks. The leak allows water into the GEM which will cause all sorts of havoc. There is an excellent chance that if you have the windshield resealed and allow the GEM module to dry out, it will stop acting crazy. If not, you'll need to replace the GEM module which will require reprogramming at the dealer.

If you have a sun roof then this is a contributor.. the drain ports are clogged... There are two in the front and two in the rear
