What manifold? Intake or exhaust? They both get hot but the exhaust is a lot hotter...

How hot is hot? If the intake has an exhaust cross over it could get quite hot if the diverter is stuck.

Check your sparkplugs to see if they are black and sooty. Tell the guy who is rebuilding the carb that it is running rich in case he needs to re jet it.

strange that a stock exhaust manifold would turn red- very odd indeed- does the engine run right? do you have burned exhaust valves? is the exhaust system clogged? what?!

If the plugs are black & sooty does tht mean he needs to re jet it.engine does not run hot exhaust has been checked & jus put on a year ago

If only one manifold is getting red hot it could be a stuck diverter for the intake manifold.
