Antifreeze in oil

Asked by Garrett Jan 11, 2016 at 11:45 AM about the 1968 Chevrolet C/K 10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I just got a very well built 396 bbc its been
sitting for some time it had two rear freeze plugs
pushed out. I replaced them I filled it up with
antifreeze now it looks like the level on my dip
stick has risen  a lil and the antifreeze looks like it
has dropped a touch. So how can you test to see
the difference between a cracked block or a bad
head gasket. This motor has aluminum heads not
sure of the year of the motor ac pump is blocking
the view of the casting numbers.

Hopefully you don't have a cracked block or heads but that is a possibility. I hope you got that engine cheap.
