There is a video on the internet that shows what appears to be a very well done installation of a Buick 3.3 V6. Those engines produced 160 HP, so I imagine it's quite a handful, but fun. I have been considering installing a Pontiac OHC 6 Sprint engine in one of my 544's. It would be alot more work than a V6, but also more power as the OHC 6 makes 215HP stock, and mine is far from stock. Have fun with your project keep us informed.

Actually an easy swap is a Chevy V-8 and an auto trans. Like a 283 Powerglide or a 350/350 turbo. You have to beef up the front springs, and fabricate a heavier driveshaft, but they are a blast to drive. The stock 4:56 rearend makes them quick. Of course, you have to install traction or ladder bars or you'll just spin the wheels. A shortened rear end with posi or a locker in it makes it a great strip car, or even just a stoplight racer.
