I have a 1984 Jeep CJ7 that has Gray & Black smoke coming out the tail pipe and engine. I’m looking for a trustworthy auto mechanic who can help me fix this major problem.

I don’t want to waste any more money, so need to find the root cause, so open
for suggestions….
Fix the seals to stop the smoke or is it something else the cause?
Replace the current 2.5 liter engine or put a V8 in it?

do a compression test and leak down test to see what's worn in the cylinder , there is no magic gunk that you can add to fix internal engine problems it has to be torn down

it may be running rich , that's something you can adjust in the carburetor or replacing leaky intake gaskets
