I saw a YouTube video - car was 06 vs my 04. Steering wheel different. Took pic. Can this one be done?

I have a 2003 300M with a bad clockspring. The dealer parts guy told me if the airbag had never been replaced before ( as far as I know it hasn't been..bought it when it was five years old, 25k miles) the airbag needed to also be replaced...for $1400!! I'm assuming they changed the design of the new replacement clockspring.
