Van seems to be starving for fuel will not idle

I I cut out the catalytic converter it had an
o2 sensor mounted on the side the guy
mounted it on the straight pipe the van is
running terrible it acts as if its starving for
fuel could that be part of my trouble or do
you have any other suggestions
