'95 Cadillac Deville

I have a '95 Cadillac Deville. Runs excellent, but it'll
pass smog but the engine light won't shut off.
I've had it scanned and they can't figure it out
either.
My thought is, since it's a really old car and
everthing is up to code. Could it be that the
warning lights need to be reset?

I've heard the mechanic can get an exemption from the king when there's a problem like that , I'm in N.Y.
