My 2002 sls cadillac whines when first started but returns to normal quiet operation when electric choke is activated

There are no more electric chokes, fuel injection has done away with them. So it is either a slipping serpentine belt or you have a symptom of a alternator problem.

If u dont think it a belt go to harbor freight and buy a mechanics stethascope. Real carefully put tip where u hear sound coming from to locate where its coming from. Clean scope and take bac. U can also use a long screw driver and tip to probe and ear on handle to listen. Jus more awkward.
