Adding coolant

My 2004 Cadillac Deville says to check the coolant level I
looked at the container and it is very very low the color
liquid is green can I add the dex-cool on top of it I really
don't have the money to get it drained

Adding more coolant is best but in a pinch add water as it is better than overheating the engine.
