cant turn off the heater

The heater in my old hi ace delivery van is stuck on heat and i cant turn it to cold. i can slide the lever across to cold but the air still comes out hot. I have to put the a/c on just so I don't cook. How do I access the valve so I can turn it off manually, Richard

It's a plastic flap that is stuck, maybe the cable from the controls slipped off. Try taking the controls out and see where the cable is going (looks like an acceleration cable). It should be under the glove box...
