To many issues

Asked by Sep 11, 2019 at 02:25 PM about the 2005 Cadillac DeVille

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So we've had nothing but problems out of my 2005 Cadillac
DeVille since we purchased it. We have replaced ignition
coils, spark plugs, O2 sensor and battery so far. Now all of
a sudden the car is throwing a new poo16 code 4 camshaft
position sensor. At the same time we are having issues
with a traction control light coming on, horrible gas mileage
about 11 MPG at this time, the car shakes and shutters and
it has recently started stalling. It has taken about 4 to 5
times trying to crank car before successfully starting. It
smells of raw fuel and a few minutes ago when I went to
press the brakes it sounded as if there were air in my lines
and didnt want to stop. I have put so much money into this
car and currently cannot afford to get it to the shop. Has
anyone had the same issues or can  anyone possibly give
me some suggestions we can try at home? I have 2 small
children and a job and this is my only vehicle. Help me

The cam sensor code is your starting and fuel mileage problem, as the computer is only guessing at the cam position while running so it can't do it's job properly. Then you have a brake system anitlock problem that is just getting started, this will be expensive if the EBCM is going out and that is what is sounds like(common problem) we had a Deville for along time, when it started having a problem here and there, everytime something happened it was at a grand to fix it, AC work, heater fan, EBCM, power windows, the list goes on. Then the wife had an accident with it and we said "enough" and took what the insurance gave us for the car and moved on. Sorry but the Cadillac's are not the car they once were. Best to start looking into unloading it soon before it gives up entirely. You won't get much on trade either.
