The door ajar light, lights up all the time now, went to store and it would not start got it jumped and it started up right away , next day it needed jumping again.Battery is about 3 years old. light has been staying on all the time inside explorer so I rolled the light switch to off when I park it for the day. It still went dead, the next time started (next day). I went to start it the next day and the doors dings and the lights go on inside the explorer but it won't start. if it was the battery you would think that the lights and the dings the explorer made would mean the battery is still working but. it just clicks and clicks when I try to start it. because of the door ajar on all the time. could it be the switch in the door? Help please. before I go buy a battery I would like to know if I really need one. also just in case the piece that holds the back hatch piece that hold the door on the left side is broke so I have had to drive over a bump to turn the lights off inside the explorer when I drive it.thats only if I go to drive it, when it goes out it is fine for the drive.

The switch that you have to jar with a bump to get the lights to go out either repair it or I would just unplug it for now. Then fully charge the battery. You should be good to go. All because the lights come on and the door ajar dings does not mean that the battery has enough of a charge to crank the car.

Thanks very much for your answer, but need to know if you unplug it from inside the door panel , or at the fuse box or at the light on roof of explorer. please help because it sounds like that would work. Thanks again you have been very helpfull.

Just that switch itself. Inside the door panel or door jam which ever applies in your case. And it will have to be the one that you already know is giving you the problems.
