83 Grand Marquis

Asked by Jun 14, 2017 at 12:02 AM about the 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 83 grand Marquis motor is already out
1st problem is the engine harness  was burnt to
shit by previous owner and the engine locked up
would it be best to rebuild or go try a junk yard  as
this will be my weekend cruiser not a daily driver

I would go with a good used engine, just by looking at the heater supply tube I would say that the block is most likely full of corrosion better check the radiator it might be totally plugged, this really looks like a project.

This was done today I'm just not set on what route I should take

Well one things for sure the torque converter has been replaced. Do you know anything about the tranny?

The owner told me it was rebuilt but shortly after the motor locked up and sat since 2013 I suppose I should've gotten some more info
